Level 5 and Capcom join their forces by combining their two independent franchises into a new game. Capcom's top defense attorney, Phoenix Wright with his assistant, Maya, as well as Level 5's duo for knack of solving puzzles, professor Layton with his assistant, Luke, find themselves in a medieval fantasy world of Labyrinthia. Both Phoenix and Layton got pulled into this new world after reading from the book called Historia Labyrinthia where they appeared to be the characters in that book and had to play their roles throughout the story.
This game features gameplay that takes roots from both Ace Attorney and Professor Layton franchises. Exploring locations, talking to people, hunting for hint coins and solving puzzles is what Layton and Luke do best. On the other hand, topping the verdict against all odds in court is what Phoenix and Maya do best. Two protagonists with two distinct game styles are presented in one story.
